Honestly, I find both Zonli cooling mats to be well worth the investment – my dog adores them, and they’re so simple to use.

Pet Cooling Mat
The Zonli Pet Cooling Mat is a brilliant solution to those warm days – predominantly because you don’t need to do anything other than roll out this mat! The self-cooling technology keeps the mattress cold to the touch without needing to wet the mat, forget it in the fridge for a few hours, or use electricity. The mat is soft and fluffy to the touch, with a smooth side as well. Reversible to be used in any season, it’s easy for the mat to become a permanent fixture in a room.
Made the same as human cooling blankets, this mat uses non-toxic materials to be safe for pups that may be enticed to chew. The Cooling Mat comes in three different sizes and three lovely shades. All of the sizes are easy to roll up for transport and throw into the washing machine for cleaning.
Z-Magic Pet Cooling Mat
For traveling pets, the Z-Magic option is the way to go. Featuring all of the same perks as the Pet Cooling Mat, this version has a few extra convenient additions. For one, the mat is fully waterproof, so spills and occasional muddy paws won’t be a problem. This pad is also fully reversible, so one side can be dedicated for inside use and the other for outside use.
Secondly, this version has buttons and a handle to help the cooling mat roll and go. These little details make it very convenient to throw the Z-Magic in the car and take it to a coffee shop, public park, or car camping adventure. The Z-Magic is a bit bigger than the Cooling Mat, but the extra real estate can be useful. With the same cooling features Zonli is known for and the ease of washing the mat in your laundry machine, this can quickly become your dog’s greatest companion.
Check Editor's Experience With Zonli
The two Zonli cooling pads came at the perfect time as Southern California was experiencing yet another wave of intense heat, with temperatures rising well over 100 degrees outside. Although I keep my home around 70 to 73 depending on the day, the house is quite large and not always the easiest to cool. Pair this with my dog Lorelei’s propensity always to need to lie on some sort of fabric, and I start to stress about her temperature regulation. I sincerely hoped that at least one of Zonli’s products would answer my needs.
Both pads arrived in their respective cardboard boxes, with the inner lid featuring a quote from Zonli regarding how many customers use their products! After trying the pads out myself, I can completely understand why they’ve shipped a million products (if my dog could talk, she would chime in on that as well). Each pad was individually wrapped in compressed plastic but quickly jumped back to their thickness and form within seconds.
Before even offering either pad to my dog to try out, I immediately felt the coolness pulling each one out of their bag – I was already impressed, as admittedly, the boxes had sat on my front porch for a couple of hours in scorching heat before I picked them up. Both pads were a very comfortable thickness. I could feel that my pup would have a good amount of support when laying – which is very important to me as she suffers from bone and joint problems (the joys of owning a former stray!) Poor thing had a severe calcium deficiency when I adopted her from the shelter, which leads to irreversible medical issues. Aside from the cooling properties and support, I was equally impressed that the pads were both incredibly lightweight. I had expected far more mass and was pleasantly surprised.
The rose pink colored pad is the Zonli Pet Cooling Mat, and mine is a size 23” x 36”, which is perfect for my furry gremlin. I loved the very soft and fuzzy fabric the top of the mat was lined in, and so did my dog – anything even remotely fluffy, and she is all over it! Lorelei immediately jumped onto the pad and laid down, pure bliss on her face. Although it is summer and I am focused on cooling, I like that the pad is reversible, with one side offering cold and the other side offering warmth. Granted, my dog wanted the fluffy side the most, but even that was cool to the touch. My dog isn’t a chewer, so I didn’t worry there, but I do like the fact that the pad is made with non-toxic materials. Additionally, the construction is also claw and scratch-proof, so I’m not worried about my dog running, jumping, and playing on the mat either.
The second pad is larger than the rose one – it’s the Z-Magic Pet Cooling Mat in gray, sized at 27” x 40”. This version is more meant for adventures, as this pad has two neat little buttons and loops that allow you to roll the pad up. A handle at the top makes it perfect to carry, so this one has been designated as our to-go mat. The larger size works well for this as the pad unfolded fits perfectly In the back of my car, nicely on a guest bed, or can be used outside. Even though Lorelei super fell in love with the pink pad, she became equally enthusiastic about this gray one when she felt how cool to the touch it was (proceeding to roll over on her back – access to the belly is a big compliment).
Washing both pads was so easy—I just threw them into my washing machine on the gentle/delicate cycle and then into the dryer on a low-heat tumble. The website also says you can air dry, but I’m a bit impatient for that (sorry!). All in all, my pup loves both pads, and I like the ease of having these around. I regret not using them sooner!
